Give Youth Jobs Before Calling Them Criminals

Imagine working hard just to put food on the table, only to get punished for it. That’s exactly how many young people in Ghana feel right now. Shatta Wale recently called out leaders for letting this happen.

He pointed out that the government keeps locking up young folks instead of giving them real work to do. When there aren’t any jobs or safe spaces to grow, kids will find their own ways to survive. Punishing them for hustling just misses the whole point.

During a recent festival, he reminded everyone that chasing money is just a basic human need. He asked why anyone would break the law if decent work actually existed. Most young people are just doing what they can to stay afloat.

We really need to build a system that helps young dreamers instead of shutting them down. Creating actual jobs will always work better than throwing people in jail. Until then, the hustle isn’t going anywhere.
