CK Akonnor, former coach of Ghana’s Black Stars, is back in the news. He’s been linked to a return to the team after Otto Addo’s departure. But what does he think about it?
Akonnor says he’s happy with his current job at Kenyan Premiership side Gor Mahia. He loves his country and the national team, but returning now isn’t an option for him.
Akonnor said
I was once the coach of the national team. If there’s a link, it’s not anything negative. It’s not anything bad. It’s good”. He also mentioned he’ll support the Black Stars in the World Cup, but that’s it for now.
The Ghana Football Association has 60 days to find a new coach to lead the team to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Akonnor’s focus remains on Gor Mahia, and he’s doing well.
