Women in Ahafo receive support to start poultry farming

A group of twelve women, including individuals with disabilities, in the Ahafo Region have been provided with poultry and essential supplies to launch their own farming businesses and enhance their economic well-being.

During a presentation held in Goaso, each woman was given five fowls along with feed and other necessary start-up resources. Felicia Serwaa, the CEO of Ketewa Hub, noted that this initiative is part of a larger training program across the region, with these specific beneficiaries chosen based on their performance during the training phase to lead the project’s rollout.

This poverty reduction effort is backed by Social Enterprise Ghana and the World University Service of Canada (WUSC), focusing on equipping young women between the ages of 18 and 35 with the skills and materials needed to succeed in agriculture.

Beneficiaries like Blessing Anobah and Mariam Dramani shared their appreciation for the resources and committed to using their new knowledge to ensure their farms flourish.

The program also offers a performance-based incentive, where those who effectively manage their initial stock will be eligible for additional fowls, encouraging long-term dedication to the project’s success.
