Asantehene allocates 200 acres to State Housing Company to address housing deficit

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has donated 200 acres of land at Dedesua in the Ashanti Region to the State Housing Company (SHC) to support the development of affordable housing. This significant contribution highlights the critical role of partnership between traditional leaders and state institutions in addressing Ghana’s housing deficit.

The land will serve as the foundation for a large-scale housing scheme designed to provide low-cost homeownership opportunities for a broad segment of the Ghanaian population.

Kwabena Ampofo Appiah, the Managing Director of the SHC, expressed profound gratitude for the gesture, noting that the project is a cornerstone of the government’s broader strategy to make housing more accessible.

He explained that the initiative will be integrated with the government’s mortgage finance program, which aims to provide inclusive financial solutions that allow every Ghanaian to transition into homeownership.

Beyond providing shelter, the Dedesua project is expected to stimulate local economic growth by creating construction jobs and fostering secondary commercial activities in the region.
