Afia Schwar and musician Mzbel have entered a bizarre dispute that has moved from social media to a spiritual sanctuary. After being called a “dog’s wife,” Afia Schwar decided to seek resolution outside of a traditional courtroom. This clash between two high-profile figures has quickly captured the public’s attention.

The conflict stems from accusations made by Mzbel against Afia Schwar, who is privately known as Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa. Afia contends that these claims are entirely baseless and damaging to her reputation. To settle the matter, she traveled to the Volta Region to involve traditional authorities.

Afia Schwar visited Torgbui Nuwordu and Mama Vena of Klikor Ablotsivia in the Ketu South Municipality to clear her name. She explicitly denied having intercourse with a dog or receiving $5,000 from a dog’s owner. Regarding the financial stakes, a release stated, “If it is proven that I made that statement, I will pay Gh¢3,000,000, but if not, the defendant should compensate me with the same amount”.
The demand for compensation highlights the intensity of the feud between the two women. By taking the matter to a shrine, Afia is utilizing traditional Ghanaian customs to seek a definitive truth. It remains to be seen if Mzbel will abide by the outcomes of this spiritual intervention.
This incident reflects a recurring trend of public figures in Ghana using traditional shrines to resolve disputes over honor and defamation. While modern courts exist, the perceived spiritual authority of these shrines often provides a different kind of closure. The public continues to watch as this unusual battle for reputation unfolds.
