The agreement follows discussions at the One Health Summit in Lyon, where both leaders focused on enhancing global health systems. France’s decision highlights a growing trust in Ghana’s current healthcare reforms and its capacity to handle advanced technology. It’s a move that positions Ghana as a leader in digital health implementation within West Africa.

The new platform is a comprehensive digital system designed to create secure, patient-centered medical records and improve communication between providers. It also aims to expand access to telemedicine services for citizens. President Mahama called the agreement “a significant step toward improving healthcare accessibility and efficiency across the country.”

Beyond healthcare, the leaders discussed the Accra-Kumasi Expressway, a project seen as vital for boosting economic activity and connectivity. Macron also expressed support for the Accra Reset Initiative, President Mahama’s plan to restructure the economy and governance. These collaborations suggest a deepening strategic bond that extends far beyond medicine.

The visit included a high-level delegation and a separate meeting with French Senate President Gérard Larcher. Their talks focused on expanding cooperation to fight terrorism and enhancing regional security. Together, these discussions aim to strengthen both commercial ties and investment opportunities between the two nations.
