Kofi Bentil: Politicians’ LGBT U-Turn Deserves Backlash

Kofi Bentil isn’t holding back. He says the anger aimed at the NDC for changing their stance on the LGBT issue is totally justified.

Here’s what happened: When the NDC was in opposition, they supported a tough anti-LGBTQI+ bill. Now that they’re in power, they’re saying it’s not even a priority for Ghanaians.

Bentil, a policy expert, declared: ‘The backlash on the U-turn over the LGBT issue is well earned! Politicians must not lie!’ He also slammed the bill itself: ‘But truth is, that Bill is atrociously bad and must never be passed in its present form!! Next time let’s be moderate in our posturing!!’

This whole mess teaches us a simple lesson: Politicians should be honest about their positions and avoid extreme posturing on sensitive topics.
