Mankessim Youth Seek Justice for Chief Opanyin Dickson

Imagine waking up at dawn to find officers from Accra dragging your eighty-year-old grandfather away in a military-style raid. That exact scene just played out in Mankessim, and it has the whole town on edge. Young residents are absolutely furious about the sudden arrest of Opanyin Kojo Dickson.

A quiet family disagreement over his traditional title quickly spiraled into a full-blown police matter. Nana Akyea Forson filed a complaint claiming the elder is not the rightful head of the Paakesedo Nsona Royal Family. Instead of letting the courts sort it out slowly, officers swooped in and took him into custody.

His relatives completely back his leadership and are now calling on top officials to step in. Mr. Kenneth Jerry Nana Bansah told reporters, “The way the police team from Accra arrested my grandfather was unlawful, so President Mahama, who is a listening President, should hear us out and deal drastically with police personnel who caused the arrest of my grandfather”. The legal team says they have photos and videos proving he was properly endorsed back in 2022.

A local court just granted the elder a hefty one hundred thousand cedi bail while investigators keep looking into the case. Everyone in Mankessim is hoping for a quick resolution before local tensions boil over. Peace is the main goal, but the community wants clear answers first.
