Peter Obi: US Security Warning is a ‘Bad Omen’ for Nigeria

Imagine the US telling its embassy staff to pack up and leave. That’s exactly what’s happening in Abuja right now. It’s a pretty serious signal.

The US government told Americans to reconsider visiting Nigeria because of crime and terrorism. They’ve even marked 23 states as “Do Not Travel” zones.

Peter Obi isn’t holding back on this. He said, “The recent directive by the United States to evacuate its embassy staff from Nigeria due to rising insecurity is deeply worrisome and should be treated as a national emergency, especially for a country already struggling to attract investors,”

Obi thinks leaders are too focused on politics while the country suffers. Meanwhile, Information Minister Mohammed Idris says it’s just a “routine precaution” and everything is fine.
