Everyone thought Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy buried the hatchet after their big hug at the World Cup fundraiser. But Stonebwoy just made it clear that their rivalry is very much alive. He actually thinks keeping that competitive spark going is exactly what the music scene needs right now.
Speaking at the 2026 World Cup launch at the Kempinski Hotel, he compared their situation to Ghana’s biggest football derby. He pointed out that just like two rival clubs keep fans excited, he and Shatta Wale push each other to make better music. Stonebwoy said, “You know that Kotoko and Phobia can never be one. They are two different teams that must continue to maintain that competitive energy to bring joy to the nation.”

He is not trying to back down from the competition, but he does want to keep things respectful. He reminded everyone that friendly rivalry only works when you draw a clear line. Stonebwoy added, “The minister said it is a healthy competition, which I believe it is. But we just have to be mindful, so we tone down things that could harm the spirit of this competition, especially the vulgarity, which is rarely found in the BHIM Nation camp.”
So instead of expecting a complete truce, fans should probably just enjoy the friendly fire. The two stars clearly plan to keep pushing each other while keeping things clean. It looks like the dancehall rivalry will stay alive, but with a lot more respect this time around.
