Following the lawsuit filed by actress Martha Ankomah against Kwadwo Nkansah (LilWin), we explore the reasons behind her decision to file the lawsuit. First, let’s look at the actress’s background.
Who Is Martha Ankomah
Martha Ankomah is a Ghanaian entrepreneur and actress. Born on November 21, 1985, she is the eldest child of a single mother. As a child, she faced a number of difficulties.
She graduated from Jayee University College, Labone Senior High School, and Adabraka Presbyterian Junior High School, all of which are in Accra.
She claims that in 1994, she began acting through her cousin. She participated in multiple movie auditions and acted in a few TV series and motion pictures before joining Next Movie Star, where she finished third in the 2007 season.
How Lil Win And Martha Ankomah’s Issue Started
LilWin recently attacked Martha for refusing to collaborate with Kumawood, and Martha claims that the comments have harmed her reputation. This prompted her to take action.
Parts of her statement of claim, which deals with the actor’s word choice and the meanings of his statements, among other things, fully capture additional grounds for her decision to sue him.
LilWin made these disparaging remarks about Martha only to damage her reputation and expose her to public mockery.
According to Martha Ankomah, the “reckless” way in which such remarks were made and the fact that there was no legal basis for them would not be disregarded.
Following that, let’s examine Martha Ankomah’s reasons for bringing a lawsuit against LilWin:
Assertions that she is unfit to be recognized as a legitimate actor deserving of employment with companies such as GTP
Martha decided to file a lawsuit because LilWin implied that she wasn’t worthy of functioning as an ambassador for Ghana Textiles Printers (GTP).
Additionally, he asserted that Martha’s ambassadorial agreement with GTP was influenced by politicians and that she did not earn the contract on her own merits.
“According to the Plaintiff, the Defendant in the aforementioned video openly, dishonestly, and maliciously said the following about the Plaintiff in Twi, which is reproduced in English here: ‘Who knows you? Who else would have signed you if it weren’t for GTP and the high-ranking government officials who did so? What sort of celebrity are you? Not even your daughter knows who you are. I’m not even sure why GTP avoided people like McBrown. The writ of summons read LilWin’s quotations.”
The assertion that she may only obtain property with help of men
LilWin’s claims that she was a terrible actress who simply profited from men were another factor that led to Martha’s lawsuit against him.
“You would have suffered if you were a man performer. Men take care of you when you become a star and an actress; they buy you homes, rent you places to live, and purchase you cars. If you were a guy, you would have suffered, but you are a woman. Men are the ones who take care of you. Men attend to your demands since you’ve become a star. “You spend your money on nothing,” LilWin said, as cited in the writ of summons.”
LilWin’s remarks embarrassed her and tarnished her positive working ties in Kumawood.
In her statement of claim, Martha described how her connections with coworkers in the Kumawood sector have been ruined by LilWin’s tantrums.
She added that she has experienced extreme humiliation and ridicule as a result of LilWin’s remarks about her.
“The Plaintiff says that the false publication by the defendant, which has gone viral on social media and other online news portals, caused embarrassment, ridicule, and reproach to Plaintiff, prompting calls from family and friends all over the world. The Plaintiff also says that the false publication has courted serious disaffection for her from actors, actresses, directors, and lovers of Kumawood movies,” parts of the statement of claim contained.
LilWin’s claims are maliciously false and untrue.
Martha Ankomah is adamant that LilWin’s accusations against her are all outright falsehoods made with malice.
She cited the claim that a filmmaker by the name of Frank Fiifi Gharbin once told LilWin that she (Martha) had declined a Kumawood film’s offer to appear in it because the plots were uninteresting.
“The Plaintiff says that the statements uttered by the defendant concerning Plaintiff are brazen lies published with malicious intent,” the statement of claim said, quoting this. According to the video that has gone viral on social media, the plaintiff claims that the defendant was furious that a director named Frank Fiifi Gharbin had told him that the plaintiff had declined a Kumawood film offer because the plots of most Kumawood films were illogical.
