Yaw Siki: ‘People Still Say I Will Return to Secular Life’

For many, a decade is more than enough time to prove a life change. Yet, for Evangelist Yaw Siki, twelve years of ministry haven’t silenced the critics. He continues to navigate a public space where his commitment to faith is still questioned by those who remember his past.

Siki’s journey began when he stepped away from the allure of secular music to embrace a calling in Christ. This shift wasn’t just a career change, but a complete identity overhaul. However, the ghost of his former professional life often lingers in the minds of his audience.

During a recent conversation on Angel FM in Kumasi, Siki opened up about the persistence of these doubts. He noted, “It’s been 12 years since I gave my life to Christ, yet people still say I will go back to the world.” These comments aren’t just whispers, as he mentioned that “even on TikTok, they keep saying it.”

Much of this skepticism stems from other high-profile artists who transitioned to ministry only to return to the secular scene later. Siki specifically mentioned the comparisons people make between him and Ofori Amponsah. He shared, “People say I will be like Ofori Amponsah,” highlighting the difficulty of escaping a predetermined narrative.

The pressure has been a constant companion since the very start of his spiritual walk. Siki recalled, “From the first day I said I had given my life to Christ, people have been saying I will return.” Despite the noise, he remains focused on his mission, even as some observers wait for a slip-up.
