He suggests that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) may find itself outside the halls of power for nearly two decades. This bold prediction points to a growing frustration among voters who feel the current two-party system is failing them.
For years, the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have traded control of the government in a predictable cycle. However, Kpebu argues that this pattern is about to break. He believes a new force is emerging from the middle class, driven by a desire for more effective governance.
Speaking on TV3’s ‘Key Points,’ Kpebu explained that the middle class is realizing that neither major party is providing the solutions the country needs. He stated, “The non-aligned middle class are becoming wiser, so after the DC leaves, they will take over before it comes to the NPP.” This suggests a transition period where independent leaders step in to manage the state.
If this prediction holds true, it would signal the end of the NPP-NDC duopoly that has defined Ghanaian politics for decades. A government led by non-aligned professionals could fundamentally change how policy is made and implemented. It’s a scenario where technical expertise might finally outweigh party loyalty.
