A public dispute has erupted between Deputy Attorney General Justice Srem Sai and former IMCCoD Executive Secretary Dennis Miracles Aboagye. At the heart of the conflict is whether Miracles was questioned by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) regarding a missing Ghc 55 million. This disagreement highlights the tension between official law enforcement procedures and the public narratives shared by those under investigation.
The controversy stems from Miracles’ time at the IMCCoD, where the state reportedly lost Ghc 55 million during his tenure. Following his interaction with EOCO, Miracles insisted that he was never questioned about this specific sum. He has suggested that the agency’s actions were merely an attempt to defame him and silence his political activities.
Justice Srem Sai has firmly rejected these claims, stating that Miracles is “completely wrong” and “cannot say he was not questioned on the 55”. Speaking on TV3’s Hot Issues, Srem Sai argued that Miracles is simply “throwing dust into the eyes of his followers, who have swallowed it hook, line, and sinker.” He emphasized that law enforcement isn’t obligated to publicly respond to every claim, as the ultimate truth emerges in court.
This clash underscores a common pattern in high-profile financial investigations. Srem Sai noted that suspects often claim they weren’t questioned upon release, only to seek “plea bargaining” once formal charges are filed. The Deputy Attorney General warned the public that a lack of official response from EOCO doesn’t automatically validate a suspect’s version of events.
Despite the legal pressure, Dennis Miracles Aboagye remains defiant. He maintains that the investigation was a targeted move to shut him up, though he claims he is more energized than ever to continue his party work. As the state prepares its case, the focus remains on the recovery of the missing Ghc 55 million.
